Mimo Ofdm Systems Using a Common Training Signal
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper presents a common training signal design and corresponding estimation methods for carrier frequency offset and frequency-selective channels in MIMO OFDM systems. In designing the common training signal, a training signal structure which yields low complexity estimation methods is developed while the optimality of the training signal is maintained. Frequency offset estimation is based on the best linear unbiased estimation principle while channel estimation is based on the least squares (also maximum likelihood) approach. The proposed training signal and estimation methods can be applied to systems with pilot-only training signals as well as those with pilot-data multiplexed signals. The estimation range of the frequency offset can be flexibly adjusted. The performances of the proposed methods are very close to the Cramer-Rao bounds or theoretical minimum mean square error.

متن کاملOn the optimality of training signals for MMSE channel estimation in MIMO-OFDM systems
In this paper, we investigate the optimality of training signals for linear minimummean square error (LMMSE) channel estimation in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) with frequency-selective fading channels. This is a very challenging problem due to its mathematical intractability and has not been analytically solved in the literature. Using ...

It is now well understood that by exploiting the available additional spatial dimensions, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems provide capacity gains, compared to a single-input single-output systems without increasing the overall transmit power or requiring additional bandwidth. However, these large capacity gains are feasible only when the perfect knowledge of the chann...

In current common channel estimation schemes for MIMO OFDM systems, channel state information is usually achieved by estimating channels according to frequency domain pilot sequences. However, when the length of MIMO OFDM symbols is larger than that of wireless channel delay, there are two intractable issues in the case of cellular fast fading channel scenarios with large numbers of users, i.e....
